Stripe Requirements
This page lists all the required components for each student to advance from yellow to green belt. To be ready for promotion, the student must have acquired each of the stripes relating to their next belt. All requirements will be taught as part of the curriculum, but for information about unfamiliar techniques that are required for a stripe, please ask an instructor.

Students will be expected to perform 2 sets of 10 good push-ups and 2 of 20 good sit-ups. There are many types of push-ups and sit-ups to choose from, so students should try a variety. They will be expected to hold a low 'sitting' stance for one and a half minutes and with both legs perform 5 kicks while balancing in a chambered snap kick position and 'flamingo' position. Students will be expected to perform 30 alternating kicks within 30 seconds and also perform some specified jumping kick. They will be expected to demonstrate their flexibility by touching their toes in a seated straddle position, at least getting close to their toes in a pike position, getting their knees closer to the floor in butterfly position, and making and attempt to perform splits. Expectations increase once they achieve their green belt. |
