Stripe Requirements
This page lists all the required components for each student to advance from green to blue belt. To be ready for promotion, the student must have acquired each of the stripes relating to their next belt. All requirements will be taught as part of the curriculum, but for information about unfamiliar techniques that are required for a stripe, please ask an instructor.

Fitness - brown stripe |
Students will be expected to perform 3 sets of 10 good push-ups and 3 of 20 good sit-ups. There are many types of push-ups and sit-ups to choose from, so students should try a variety. They will be expected to hold a low 'sitting' stance for two minutes and perform hopping kicks and switching feet (both 'over' and 'under') in flamingo position. Students will also be expected to perform continuous doubles for 30 seconds and perform some specified jumping kicks. They will be expected to demonstrate their flexibility by touching their toes in a seated straddle position and pike position, getting their knees closer to the floor in butterfly position, and making and attempt to perform splits. Expectations increase once they achieve their blue belt. |
