Schedule Changes
From December 1 2025 we changed two of the 5 pm classes to be Beginner only classes and the two 6 pm classes on those days to Junior Intermediate and Advanced classes. Everyone still has a class they can come to every day.
We are also continuing with the Friday 7 pm class as a non-specific class for all ages and all belts. Special requests for a topic to learn or practice will definitely be entertained, regardless of which week it is.
See the schedule here.
Tournaments
Six of our students took part in the 16th annual Tri Star Championship which was held at Conestoga College in Kitchener. They all brought home medals and had a great time! We had: Haejin win silver in sparring and bronze in patterns in the male 11-12 year old green belt division; Eliot win silver in patterns in the male 11-12 yo black belt division, Jayden win gold for patterns in male 13-14 yo red belts, Rosie win bronze for sparring in female 13-14 yo red belts, Vi win gold in both patterns and sparring in female 15-17 yo yellow belts, and Hae-in win silver in both patterns and sparring in female 15-17 yo blue belts.
It was a very busy afternoon for Master Jessica, who coached them all to their successes and inspired several of them to compete again in May! See some of our tournament pictures on the Gallery page.
Belt Promotions
Our next promotions will be held on Saturday, May 30.
On March 28 six students tested for a range of belts, so we had them all test together. We had Vi testing for green stripe (7th gup) belt, Beth for green (6th gup) belt, JinQ for blue (4th gup), Hae-in for red stripe (3rd gup), Derek for black stripe (1st gup), and McKenna for club black belt, It went well, overall, with a bit of self-defense confusion and some challenges with breaking, but everyone should be proud of their hard work and know that they definitely earned those belts. Congratulations!
On February 28 we held black belt promotions. The four candidates have been working on this for several months, and showed us some excellent patterns, very entertaining self-defense routines, and some challenging breaking! Congratulations to: Eric on advancing from club black to 1st poom, April from 1st to 2nd dan, Gabriel from 2nd poom to 3rd dan, and Colin to 4th dan, so he ranks as a Master. Good work, all, and well-deserved promotions!
On January 31 we had two belt promotions. In the morning we had six beginners test: Daisy and Elly got their yellow stripe (9th gup) belts, Talal and Gauri their yellow (8th gup) belts, and Azmina and Pratyn their green (6th gup) belts. They all did very well and impressed everyone with their skills, especially board breaking!
In the afternoon Waliyah and Jayden tested for their red (2nd gup) belts and Rosie and Avanee for their black stripe 1st gup) belts. They also all did really well, and we saw some very interesting and entertaining self-defense demonstrations.
On November 29 we had a test for Qaassem to get his green stripe belt in the morning and a much longer test for Bernardo to get his club black belt in the afternoon. Bost students did really well and we’re very proud of them.
On October 26 we had two small tests, with Idris earning his yellow stripe belt and Azmina her green stripe in the morning. In the afternoon we saw Ryan advance to red stripe and Kacie and Kyle got their red stripe belts. Congratulations to you all!
